Case Study

Philip J Landscape Architecture

PJLA is an innovative design studio, providing a bespoke service to both private and commercial clients. Focused on the artistry of landscaping, PJLA offers much more than just space-fillers between buildings - they work closely with their clients to deliver both beautiful and functional spaces. The multidisciplinary team offers practical advice, ensuring the clients have all the information they need to make well-informed decisions. Founded in 2018, the company is constantly growing, and we sat down with founder Philip J to talk about his experience with Outmin, and the financial challenges of running a business.

Challenge

Before Outmin, Philip was doing his own accounts, with help from a local accountant. “I’m woeful with the numbers”.

Sitting down and doing VAT receipts every two months was also a major pain-point for Philip, as it was excruciatingly time consuming.

Philip believed his only other options were using software like Xero, or hiring full-time accountants – he wouldn’t know what to Google to find an alternative solution.

“I should just be putting pen-to-paper and designing, not doing finances”.

Solution

Philip came into contact with David through a mutual friend, so he gave him a ring and was delighted to hear Outmin could take lots off his plate. Philip was also impressed by David’s entrepreneurship and found his call very compelling.

Since switching to Outmin, Philip has found that not only is he saving lots of time, but he estimates it is saving him €10,000 per year, alongside no longer overpaying for tax items. Having someone to go to with questions such as what falls under different categories from a tax perspective; ‘can you claim this?’ etc. has also been invaluable.

With time, Philip feels the customised reports offered by Outmin will be more useful as the data builds up. He thinks he could take this information to his business consultant to advise him using real data.

Result

“A software platform with a real person to talk to”.

“Big tech feel without the lack of customer service”.

“Product is robust for uploading documents, it’s affordable and frees you up to work on more valuable parts of the business”.

“Outmin take care of anything to do with your business and finances. They do it and advise you. It’s like having an accountant in the office but not on the books”
